Stressed out shoppers have become synonymous with Christmas. Budgets are blown while Amazon shopping carts overflow. Somewhere along the way the JOY of Christmas has been replaced with chaos, long Santa lists and anxiety over finding the perfect gift.
What is billed as a “Merry” season often turns into one filled with stress and followed with very real depression for some. It seems we have lost the very heart of Christmas.
But the GOOD NEWS is that there is hope! You see, the Real Christmas doesn’t cost you anything. Not one single penny. Christmas is actually about the greatest gift you could ever receive.
When we shift our focus to a baby boy lying in a manger and all that he represents, we can again find the child-like Christmas wonder we’ve been missing.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid” I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” Luke 2: 10-12
In the tiny town of Bethlehem, God chose to reveal himself in the flesh. He chose a simple stable, the most unlikely of places to fulfill his promise and to bring Glory.
The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1: 14
You see, this is the good news of Christmas. That a God of grace and love would reveal the greatest gift to us all. No matter what we have done, or haven’t done. No matter how much money we have, or what standing we find ourselves in, God gave each of us the gift of His Son. A baby that would one day fulfill the Gospel promise of Salvation and life eternal.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
This Christmas we hope that you can focus on the real meaning of Christmas. Our prayer for you this season is that your stress is replaced with hope. That your Christmas rush is replaced with the peace that first Christmas brings. We hope you find reason to Rejoice and Celebrate.
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests’. When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about’. So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2: 13-19
We also pray that you realize that the best gift you could give your loved one this year is the great news of the Gospel story. In sharing the real meaning of Christmas, those we love can find the JOY that the Real Christmas brings. The pressure of finding that perfect gift is gone, because the greatest gift has already been given.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2: 20
